HTC HD2 Supports Surprising USB Functionality

I guess all PC users will be pleasantly surprised as there is another device that is able to sync with keyboard and mouse. This device is the HTC HD2, the Leo that runs Windows Mobile 6.5. Though I’ve said it with irony, probably this time the OS is an advantage, as there is no other handset providing such functionality.

Of course, you understand this job is not official and was done by hackers, I’ll say by HTC fans who want to discover all the opportunities of HTC smartphones. Well, The Dark Forces Team, famous HTC hackers, has been working very hard to reach such a result, i.e. to add a USB host to a phone. If you are not aware what advantages it brings, I’ve to say that now following the instructions (follow the source link) you can add some USB devices like USB Mass Storage, mice and keyboards. After you have done all the needed actions, the HTC HD2 will support the Human Interface Devices profile, which will provide the sync process of the aforementioned devices.

The team mentions that this is an experimental deal, and only the HTC HD2 with 3.14 ROM was tested. Moreover, probably you’ll need a self-powered USB hub.

Anyway, if you decide to follow their advice to find out what the classic PC on the HTC HD2 looks like, let us know.
